Appointment Length:
Regular Continuous/Until Further Notice.
Hiring Range: $45,000 - $61,500.

The Area Coordinator (AC) is a live‑on, 12‑month, full‑time professional staff position within Housing and Residential Life at Oklahoma State University
. The AC is responsible for providing leadership in the academic and community development of residents within an assigned area. This position oversees the daily operations of multiple residence halls and supports a vibrant, engaged, and student‑centered living environment.
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate hall staff, including graduate and student employees.
- Provide vision, guidance, and development opportunities for staff and residents.
- Oversee implementation and assessment of the residential curriculum and related engagement initiatives.
- Manage facilities operations and coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure safe, well‑maintained residential spaces.
- Address student conduct matters, including crisis response and intervention.
- Collaborate with campus partners to support student success and foster a sense of belonging.
This position generally operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm
, with required participation in evening and weekend commitments as needed. Workload is typically heavier at the beginning and end of each academic semester. Area Coordinators are also expected to remain on campus during select university breaks to participate in the departmental on‑call rotation.
- Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Human Sciences, or a related field (degree must be conferred on or before the agreed upon start date).
- One year of related experience. Experience with residential education programs or equivalent curriculum knowledge. Experience working with college student population.
- Skills, proficiencies, and/or knowledge: familiarity with conflict management process; experience in project management; experience administering a formal student conduct process; strong understanding of student learning and development; experience using knowledge of student learning and development to develop strategies to foster co‑curricular learning in the residence halls guided by student learning outcomes.
- Master's degree in College Student Development, Higher Education, or Leadership.
- Two years' experience with residential education programs or equivalent curriculum knowledge. Attendance at regional and national student conferences.
