The Oklahoma State University New Product Development Center (NPDC) is an engineering extension unit of the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology. The NPDC provides Oklahoma manufacturers and inventors with university-based research teams to develop and commercialize new product concepts. These efforts may include evaluating existing products, establishing technology status, evaluating business and financial implications, developing new products, updating current products, integrating new technology, and broadening market shares with new product features.
The NPDC seeks an Electrical and Controls Engineer to work in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Engineer will lead product development projects for clients, provide expertise and guidance in electrical design, work closely with project teams and managers, allocate resources, and coordinate with business and technical staff to complete multidisciplinary projects. The Engineer will also engage cross‑campus resources and develop effective client relationships.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (conferred on or before the start date)
- Two years’ experience in a related field, including familiarity with designing products for manufacturers, hands‑on experience with CAD software, circuit design, writing firmware for microcontrollers, writing simulations and control algorithms for automation or robotics, and prototyping.
- Good communication and laboratory skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint; knowledge of circuitry and project management; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Master’s degree in Engineering
- Five years’ experience in automation
- Professional Engineering license or project management certification
