About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to provide strategic leadership for its comprehensive information security and cybersecurity programs. The CISO will be responsible for the protection of the institution's digital assets, research data, student information, and technology infrastructure, all while supporting the academic and research missions. This role requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and seven years of information security work experience, with a strong background in security architecture and design, security engineering, auditing and compliance, incident response and forensics, security awareness training, and the management of an IT security department.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing enterprise-wide security programs, be familiar with Zero Trust architecture principles, and have experience in conducting security exercises and using cybersecurity maturity models. Professional security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent are mandatory. Applicants for the CISO position at the company should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong leadership, and team management capabilities.
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred, along with experience in higher education and a deep knowledge of information security frameworks and security technologies. The role also requires knowledge of emerging technologies in higher education, such as cloud computing, IoT, and AI/ML security implications. Experience with security program maturity assessments and continuous improvement initiatives is a plus. The successful candidate will be a key collaborator with the senior leadership team and will play a critical role in ensuring the security and integrity of the institution's digital environment.
