Position: Senior Associate Vice President for Research

Overview

. The Division of the Vice President for Research at OSU is seeking outstanding candidates for its next Senior Associate Vice President for Research (SAVPR). The SAVPR functions as a “number two” to the Vice President for Research (VPR) and serves as the senior member of the VPR leadership team. The SAVPR has delegated authority to stand in for the VPR when needed and is often called upon to fill in during leadership vacancies throughout the Research Division.

Breadth of knowledge/experience across the Division’s functional areas and deep management skills are critical.

Responsibilities
  • Operate as the senior member of the VPR leadership team, with delegated authority to stand in for the VPR as needed.
  • Help identify and shape the operational portfolio at the intersection of the SAVPR’s interests/skillsets and the Research Division’s functional areas; implement a dynamic portfolio that can create demonstrable positive impact on OSU’s research enterprise.
  • Fill in for VPR during leadership vacancies and provide strategic leadership across multiple functional areas of the Division.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
The Senior Associate Vice President for Research must possess an earned doctoral degree and have academic credentials and previous experience that merit a tenured appointment in an academic unit within the University. Other minimum qualifications include:

  • Professional and administrative experience in Research in a complex organizational environment
  • Demonstrated record of administrative leadership, personnel management, effective communication, and informed decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and facilitate collaboration to innovate, create, and advance the research mission
  • Demonstrated record of working effectively with faculty and administrators to foster collegial relationships that promote research
  • Ability to work cooperatively with people across diverse interests and disciplines to foster high productivity in research

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications.
