About the Role

Join the Stirling Animation Studio team on a new Magic Light Pictures' production.

We are looking for artists with a minimum of 2 years CG experience, ideally on children’s animated features or television series work, to support the Design team in Character, Environments, and Props roles.

Responsibilities

These roles will develop design specifications within an existing style framework, working from concepts to deliver design sheets, turnarounds, and scale references ahead of CG production.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years design experience on television or feature production, ideally with children’s content
  • Experience translating an existing illustrative style into informative 2D designs
  • Experience delivering design specifications for handover to CG teams including character sheets, expression sheets, turnarounds, and scale reference styles for animated projects, especially with children’s content
  • Strong grasp of perspective and maintaining consistency in proportions when doing turnarounds
  • Ability to render characters & environments with focus on surface treatment (type of material, roughness, texture, etc.)
  • Comfortable using photographic reference to aid rendering/polish and the use of call‑out sheets to convey material properties where needed
  • Candidates must be located within the UK (outside the M25). Priority will be given to those based in Scotland.
Location

Fully remote or Scottish‑based artists are welcome to work hybrid from our studio in Stirling.

Contract Type

Roles will be offered on a freelance contract, expected to start in July 2026 and run until late October 2026.

Hours

Standard studio hours are 7 working hours a day (usually 10am to 6pm), Monday to Friday. Flexible working hours can be discussed on an individual basis within the production pipeline.

Access Requirements

We are committed to providing a working environment that is inclusive, accessible, and welcoming for all team members. If you have individual access requirements, we will discuss arrangements to support you.

How to Apply

Please provide a copy of your CV or your Linked In profile along with a link to a portfolio/showreel (including password if required). Alternate format submissions such as video or audio files are accepted – please keep these under 2 minutes.

We encourage you to complete the form as early as possible as we will close applications once all posts have been filled.
