Falkirk High School is seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and organised Support for Learning Assistant (Advanced) to join our Health Faculty and wider school support team.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the learning and achievement of young people within a large and vibrant secondary school. You will provide an efficient, professional and comprehensive support service, working closely with teaching staff and pupils to enhance learning experiences and attainment.
The role is based within the Home Economics Department and will involve a 50/50 split between:
- Supporting teachers and pupils within Home Economics classes; and
- Assisting the department with the food preparation and organisation of practical teaching lessons, ensuring resources, equipment and materials are available and maintained to a high standard.
In addition, you may undertake a range of whole-school support duties, promoting the safety, care and wellbeing of pupils. These responsibilities may include providing support within the school's medical provision when required.
We are looking for someone who:- Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Enjoys working as part of a team and building positive relationships.
- Has experience of working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting.
- Is proactive, flexible and committed to supporting pupil achievement and wellbeing.
- Has an interest in supporting practical learning within Home Economics.
A current Food Hygiene Certificate would be advantageous; however, training will be provided and the successful candidate will be required to achieve this qualification if not already held.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the educational experience of our young people while working as part of a supportive and dedicated staff team. If you are committed to helping young people succeed and thrive, we would welcome your application.
This post is temporary until June 2027 due to service requirement.
If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership, the cost of which will be met by the preferred candidate.
