Position: Management Accountant (15mth FTC)

We’re currently supporting one of our clients as they look to appoint an experienced Management Accountant to cover a period of maternity. It’s a business that we’ve worked with for a number of years now and they have a great reputation. Not only that but they have a fantastic Finance team and overall just a really positive environment to work in.

The role itself has a strong commercial focus, with robust financial management and timely and accurate reporting being central to the role. The appointed individual will be motivated and well organised, with the ability to deliver under pressure whilst playing a key role in supporting the Finance team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparation, review and submission of accurate monthly management accounts and reports
  • Produce weekly 13 wk rolling cashflows and report on variances
  • Review all balance sheet items (incl. control accounts) to ensure validity and recoverability where necessary
  • Understand and analyse (at a detailed level) individual project revenue and cost performance
  • Support in the management and development of the Finance team
  • Ensure outstanding debts/retentions/disputes are resolved and collected promptly
  • Review and submission of monthly returns to HMRC
  • Ensure the business is operating with effective internal controls
  • Carry out ad-hoc and routine control reviews, both operational and financial, and report relevant findings
  • Assist with business change projects as required
  • Provide support in preparing schedules for the yearly budget and 5-year review
  • Design, implement and maintain effective management reports for the business
  • Support in managing external audit relationship

As you can see, the role will be varied and the ideal candidate for the post will have previous experience in most of the areas listed above. That said, team fit and attitude are of equal importance, if not more important. We’re looking for someone who’ll bring a positive attitude, willing to get the sleeves rolled up, and a simple desire to add as much value to the team as possible.

In terms of qualification, we’re leaving this quite open and those who are fully qualified or Qualified by Experience will all be considered. We’re more focused on appointing someone who can come in and hit the ground running in the aforementioned key areas, with the ability to make an immediate impact and add real value to the team.

We’re looking to have someone in post by the end of May ideally, if not earlier. That being the case, we are unable to consider anyone who has more than a 1 month notice period. The ideal candidate will be immediately available but for the right candidate, a 1 month notice period is fine.
