This is a role where you can build credibility quickly, get close to the CEO and senior team, and grow into the FD role properly rather than being dropped into it with no support. You will need to be qualified, comfortable leading a team and happy getting into the detail when needed.

Sector background is not the main thing. What matters more is that you have worked in a busy, operational business and can improve how finance runs.

You will need to be on site to start with. Flexibility is likely further down the line, but early on, you will need to be close to the business and the team.
