Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with an interest in working within the Paediatric Neurodevelopmental Service sub‑speciality.
Children and Young People’s Psychological Services within NHS Forth Valley are organised into a range of sub‑specialities, each supported by dedicated psychological leadership and specialist clinical supervision. The service offers a broad range of evidence‑based therapeutic modalities, including CBT, IPT, FBT, Systemic Family Therapy, ABA, EMDR, Art Therapy and ACT, all professionally governed within Psychological Services, NHS Forth Valley.
The service provides assessment and intervention to children and young people aged 0–18 years and their families, delivering highly specialist psychological input for complex presentations. This frequently involves close multi‑agency collaboration with partner services. The post holder will play a key role in the delivery and supervision of specialist psychological care and will contribute to clinical leadership within the service. There are also opportunities to participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives.

As part of job planning, staff are actively supported to develop areas of specialist clinical interest. A varied in‑house CPD programme is provided, alongside strong links with national training bodies and external courses. The service also has an established role in training and education, offering placements to trainees from Doctoral, PIAT and MSc programmes.
Qualificationsand Experience
Applicants must hold a postgraduate Doctoral‑level qualification (or equivalent) in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, be registered with the HCPC, and have experience of working with children and young people presenting with complex needs. Experience and/or additional training in neurodevelopmental conditions would be desirable.
RequirementsThe successful candidate must be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
