We're recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to join a growing rail freight maintenance team in Rochester. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work and wants to develop specialist engineering skills within the rail industry.

The Role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and refurbishing rail freight vehicles to the highest safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair, maintain, and refurbish railway freight vehicles and company assets
  • Carry out rail vehicle inspections, fault finding, and modifications
  • Complete damage repairs across a variety of freight wagons
  • Support planned maintenance activities to ensure fleet availability
  • Follow strict health and safety procedures at all times
  • Work effectively as part of a skilled engineering team
The Candidate
  • Have a genuine interest in mechanics, engineering, or hands on work
  • Are eager to learn and develop through a structured training programme
  • Have a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Can follow instructions and work safely in a busy workshop environment
  • Want to build a long term career within engineering and rail
Essential Requirements
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Ability to pass a pre employment medical
  • Ability to pass Drugs & Alcohol screening
  • Ability to obtain a DBS check
  • Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment
