The Post

The University of Stirling is recruiting a postdoctoral research fellow to undertake research to support the work of the ESRC funded research project, "Bringing "Norms" Back Home:
Troop-Contributing Countries and Their Domestic Engagement with UN Peacekeeping Norms".

In particular, the postholder will work closely with the Principal Investigator and country-based research teams to develop interview guides, undertake data analysis, coding, and document analysis, and contribute to the development and management of the project's dataset.

The role is primarily methodological, providing research design and analytical support to the country teams to ensure consistency and rigour across the comparative study.

Description of Duties
  • Work with the Principal Investigator (PI) to develop guidelines for the country teams to conduct systematic document analysis of publicly available laws, decrees, constitutional provisions, and other relevant policy documents to assess the extent to which UN peacekeeping norms have been domesticated. The findings will inform the project's comparative dataset
  • Collaborate with the PI and country teams to design interview guides for two distinct sets of interviews to be conducted across all case study countries
  • Support the PI and country teams in the analysis and coding of interview data to ensure methodological consistency across cases
  • Contribute to the development, management, and quality assurance of the project's comparative dataset
  • Attend the project's inception and final workshops, presenting on the methodological framework and contributing to discussions on research design, data collection, and analysis. Both workshop will be held in one of the project case study countries
