Safety Advisor

NSB Omega is searching for a Safety Advisor for our MAJOR Utilities Client in St. John's, NL.

Our Client and its subsidiaries are seeking the services of one safety advisor to join its team to help support the Non Regulated Engineering Services Project Execution team. The individual will support the execution of projects throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

• Provide oversight,technicaladvice,supportanddirectiontothe
  
  Project
  
  Execution team for contract, technical and capital work;
• Providecoachingandsupportto Project Manager sand Construction Management  Representatives (CMRs) involved in the execution of work;
• Ensurethe Contractor Safety Management Programiseffectivelyimplementedthrough  front end involvement in tender specifications and bid reviews, and ongoing field monitoring;
• Actasaliaisonwithprojectmanagers,regional/safetyfieldpersonneland CMRs.
• Coordinateandprovidecoachingforincident investigations;
• Assistnewstaffwithsafetyreportingandsafetyobservations;
• Reviewcontractorsitespecificsafetydocumentation/safetyplansandprovide feedback;
• Participateincontractor“kickoff” meetings;
• Performfieldwork,safetytoursandsafety inspections;
• Promoteandensurecompliancewith Hydro’sSafety
  
  Management System;
• Facilitateprojectriskassessmentsandperformauditsrelatedto Project Executionwork  (Contractor Safety Management Programs and the Safety Management Systems);
• LiaisonwiththeCMRsinthefieldregardingsafetyissuesand concerns;
• Deliverinhousetrainingas required;
• Communicate with Operationsonaregular basis;
• StrongknowledgeofsafetyoperatingproceduresandrelevantOHSlegislationand associated industry standards;
• Strongknowledgeofcapitalintensive environments;
• Traveltositeasrequiredtoprovidetechnicalinputandfield support.
• Travelandworkatvarioussiteswhereprojectsarebeingcompleted(Menihek,Churchill Falls, Muskrat Falls, Soldiers Pond, etc).

• Safetytrainingand/oranequivalentcombinationofeducationandexperience
  
  Safety and Health Management Systems
• Auditingandincident investigations
• Developmentofcorporateprogramsand standards;
• Field experience,particularlyrelatingtohydro-electricfacilitiesortheelectricalindustry in general is considered desirable;
• Avaliddriver’slicensewillberequiredastherewillbesometravel involved;
• Abilitytoperformfieldworkinanelectricalutilityandheavyindustrial environments.
