Full-time permanent position for Student Services Program Specialist serving Family of Schools #1. Duties commence September 8, 2026.
As Program Specialist, you will be part of the Provincial Leadership Team, reporting to the Director of Student Services, and will support, stimulate, and sustain engaging professional learning for adult learners to enhance student engagement and learning province-wide.
Responsibilities
Guide schools and educators to enhance student engagement and learning across all areas.
Support learning communities and cultivate excellence in student engagement and learning through responsive teaching and learning practices.
Showcase dedication to ongoing professional learning, emphasizing contemporary educational research and pedagogical approaches.
Provide leadership in teaching and learning, collaborating with other Provincial Program Specialists, the Department of Education, Program Development Specialists, educators, school administrators from a Family of Schools, and learning partners.
Guide staff by the Standards of Practice for Program Specialists: ethical responsibility; development and characteristics of learners; professional learning and leadership; collaborative partnerships; reflective practice; professional knowledge.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of child development and diverse learning needs of all students.
Ability to lead and provide direction in a collaborative team environment and support the direction set forth by the Department in consultation with the School Principal.
Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of individualized, skill development programming K-12.
Experience providing student services programming; responsive teaching and learning and service delivery models K-12.
Experience providing instructional leadership to promote student learning and utilizing data and resources for continuous improvement.
Ability to coach/mentor new and experienced teachers on effective and current instructional/assessment practices.
Ability to provide leadership in the development and delivery of professional development for school and Department initiatives.
Ability to initiate and implement change in consultation with the School Principal.
Ability to apply knowledge, experience, and commitment for culturally relevant instruction and assessment for all students.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Education.
Bachelor of Special Education or equivalent.
NL Teaching Certificate.
Master's Degree in relevant field.
Minimum five (5) years successful classroom teaching experience.
Experience as a curriculum leader at the school, Department, and/or provincial level.
Use of a personal vehicle and willingness to travel regionally and provincially.
Salary and Incentives
Annual Teacher Salary Scale contained within the NLTA Provincial Collective Agreement with benefits provided under the same agreement.
Incentives are prorated if a teacher works less than the full contract or during unpaid leave.
Taxable Labrador Isolation Allowance of $2,040.00 paid bi-weekly.
Labrador Allowance and Travel Allowance calculated based on school location and dependants; prorated if not full time.
Relocation travel claim: up to $1,700.00 for first-year round-trip travel; paid upon arrival and at end of school year.
