Job Overview

Full time permanent Instructional Resource Teacher. Duties to commence September 8, 2026.

As an Instructional Resource Teacher (IRT), you will support a diverse range of learners by developing and delivering individualized programming. Your work will focus on meeting the unique needs of students through enrichment, academic intervention, social-emotional development, and the building of accessibility and adaptive skills.

Successful candidates will be able to engage professionally with colleagues, families and communities; demonstrate the planning and implementation of effective and responsive teaching and learning practices; provide evidence of how to shape a safe and positive learning environment for students and families; demonstrate a love of learning and an ability to build learner and leadership capacity; provide evidence and understanding of the impact of effective assessment practices.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Education
  • Bachelor of Special Education or Equivalency
  • NL Teaching Certificate - Level IV or higher
  • Equivalencies will be considered
Salary and Incentives
  • Annual Teacher Salary Scale contained within the NLTA Provincial Collective Agreement and benefits contained within the agreement.
  • Incentives are pro‑rated if a teacher works less than the full contract awarded or on periods of unpaid leave.
  • A taxable $2,040.00 Isolation Allowance paid to all Labrador teachers on a bi‑weekly basis. Please refer to Article 24.02 of the Collective Agreement.
  • Subsidized housing units may be available in Nain, Postville, Makkovik, Rigolet, Black Tickle, Hopedale, and Cartwright.
  • A Labrador Allowance and Travel Allowance calculated based on school location and dependants. The bonus is prorated if a teacher works less than a full school year or if not full time.
  • A taxable Coastal Labrador Supplement valued at $5,000.00 to be paid in two installments ($2,000.00 in December and $3,000.00 in June) as per the Coastal Labrador Supplement Arrangement. To be eligible, teachers must be on a full time continuing contract and must reside in the community for the duration of the contract period. Bonus is not paid if the teacher is hired and does not fulfill the full contract.
  • For those that need to relocate, a one‑time only taxable $5,000.00 Allowance to be paid in two equal installments ($2,500.00 in December and $2,500.00 in June). Pro‑rated repayment may be required if break in the contract.
  • For those that need to relocate, a one‑time only round‑trip travel claim to travel to the school community and back to your home location during the first year is available up to a maximum of $2,500.00. One travel claim is paid upon arrival and the other paid at the end of the school year when you arrive home. Pro‑rated repayment may be required if break in the contract.
