About Keyin College
Keyin College is one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s leading post-secondary institutions, dedicated to empowering students through innovation, skills development, and transformative learning. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Full-Time Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Instructor & Curriculum Developer to support both instructional delivery and the ongoing development of our OHS programming.
The Role
This position combines instructional excellence with curriculum development and continuous program improvement. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, practical, and learner-focused instruction while also contributing to the design, review, and enhancement of curriculum aligned with evolving industry standards and legislative requirements.
This is a dynamic role that requires flexibility each semester, as responsibilities may shift between instructing and curriculum development based on program and industry needs. The ideal candidate is an industry-driven OHS professional with current field expertise and a strong understanding of workforce expectations, industry trends, and evolving safety standards.
What You’ll Do
Deliver instruction in our Occupational Health & Safety program
Support students through coaching, mentorship, and academic guidance
Develop and update lesson plans, learning activities, assessments, and practical training experiences
Contribute to curriculum development, program enhancement, and course revisions to ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory changes
Collaborate with academic leadership and faculty teams to strengthen program quality and student outcomes
Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback
Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and course outcomes
Stay current with industry trends, legislation, regulations, and best practices in Occupational Health & Safety
Assist in ensuring program content remains relevant, practical, and workforce-focused
What You Bring
Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
Combination of experience and education equivalent to 6 years
Strong understanding of OHS legislation, regulations, and industry best practices (provincial and/or federal)
Industry-driven mindset with current knowledge of workplace safety expectations and evolving standards
Ability to adapt and work flexibly between instructional delivery and curriculum development responsibilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support adult learners
Comfort using technology for instruction (e.g., Microsoft Office, learning platforms, online delivery tools)
A professional, safety-first approach and the ability to model strong safety leadership
Prior instructing, training, facilitation, curriculum development, or instructional experience is considered an asset
