Project Engineer - Protection & Controls/Electrical

NSB Omega is searching for a Project Engineer - Protection & Controls/Electrical for our MAJOR Utilities Client in St. John's, NL.

Assignment Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Providetechnicalsupportto Project Manager (s) onvarious projects;

· Reviewtenderpackagespreparedbyotherconsultantsand contractors;

· Reviewshopdrawingspreparedbycontractorsand vendors;

· Preparetenderpackagesfor contracts;

· Preparerequestsforproposals (RFPs);

· Providetechnicalinputasadesignteammemberforprojectsandothertechnical documentation;

· Directandsuperviseconsultantsandcontractorsduringthecompletionofspecific engagements;

· Reviewandapprovereportspreparedby consultants;

· Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) as required;

· Conductregularsitevisitstomonitorconstructionactivities,verifyprojectprogress,and provide support to site teams;

· Facilitateeffectivecommunicationacross stakeholders;

· Reviewandapprovetechnicaldocumentation,including commissioning;

· Assistwithprojectcloseoutactivities,ensuringsmoothtransitionofcompletedassetsto operations;

· Promotecontinualimprovementthroughlessonslearned,innovativeapproaches,and sharing best practices with other project teams;

· Submittimesheetsanddocumentationinaccordancewiththe Client's project management requirements;

· Otherdutiesas assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

· Bachelorof Engineering Degree (Electrical) withaminimumof8yearsexperiencesince graduation

· Registered with and currently hold Professional Engineer designation from the Professional Engineersand Geoscientistsof Newfoundlandand Labrador (PEGNL) association;

· Experienceintheconfigurationandprogrammingof

PLCsand DCS;

· Experienceinnetworkarchitecture design;

· Experienceinpreparingandusinglogicandwiring diagrams;

· Experience in the design and or fabrication of electrical utility equipment, including but not limited to switchgear, motor control centers, lighting, transformers, breakers, etc.

· Experienceinsupervisingequipmentinstallationand commissioning;

· Relevantexperienceincomplex,multi-discipline projects;

· Experienceinselecting,settingandtroubleshootingprotective relays;

· Aworkingknowledgeofcommunication protocols;

· Provenanddemonstratedcommunication skills;

· Abilitytothriveasaparticipantand/orleaderwithinamulti-disciplineteamofbothinternal and external resources;

· Relevantexperienceinthedesign,implementationandtroubleshootingofprotectionand or control systems in general with emphasis on hydro generation plants or electrical transmission systems or equivalent;

· Experienceindesign,managingconstructioncontractsand commissioning;

· Experienceinpreparingproject estimates;

· Excellentcomputerskillsincludingaworkingknowledgeof Microsoft Office;

· Abilitytoadapttodynamicworkenvironmentsandchangingproject demands.
