Intermediate Environmental Professional – Scientist or Engineer
We are looking for an Intermediate Environmental Professional – Scientist or Engineer to join our Contaminated Site Assessment and Remediation (CAR) Team in our Atlantic Canada office located in St. John's, NL.
Responsibilities
Perform Phase I to IV Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).
Perform risk assessments; experience in this area is considered an asset.
Coordinate field activities, including sampling of groundwater, soil, soil vapour, sediment, and surface water.
Oversee excavation and drilling activities, as required.
Implement and enforce health and safety plans on construction sites.
Supervise site personnel as well as subcontractors.
Interact with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Coordinate project tasks, manage projects, procure subcontractors, implement and oversee field work, and participate in risk assessment and remedial design efforts.
Produce technical reports and proposals for submission to provincial and federal regulatory authorities.
Support Project Managers/Business Groups on various environmental and industrial projects.
Lead internal project teams for multi‑media assessments of complex sites.
Support the growth of the environmental practice in Eastern Canada.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science or Engineering; a P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation is considered a strong asset.
At least 5 years of hands‑on experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on ESAs and remediation projects.
Solid knowledge of provincial and federal environmental regulations and guidelines.
Familiarity with the Federal Contaminated Sites Action Plan (FCSAP) or similar federal frameworks is an advantage.
Proven ability to thrive in a fast‑paced consulting environment, juggling multiple projects, meeting tight deadlines, and traveling to client sites as required.
Exceptional communication and technical writing skills.
Bilingualism is considered an asset.
A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
Flexibility to work variable hours and travel to project sites across Atlantic Canada and occasionally beyond.
