Resident Senior Steam Turbine Mechanical Technical Advisor; TFA - Darlington

Job Description Summary

As a Senior Technical Advisor in the GE Steam Power Nuclear in Ontario, Canada, your role is a dedicated technical owner directly engaging with both internal and external customers while delivering safe, quality, on time, profitable core outage services and upgrades on GE’s nuclear installed base of steam turbines, generators, and balance‑of‑plant components located in Darlington Nuclear Power Station. This demanding role will require you to function effectively in a broad and matrixed environment.

The primary work location for this position is Darlington Nuclear Generating Station located at 1 Holt Rd S, Bowmanville, ON L1C 3Z8, Canada

• You understand the value customers are to our business and desire to excel in the critical interface role with them - realizing that interactions will be complex, challenging, and not always immediately positive.
• You bring strong field engineering, technical direction, and/or outage management knowledge on steam turbines and generators to this critical role.
• You have experience with field services, manufacturing and/or repairs, and parts.
• You have experience with Alstom BBC steam turbines, generators, and balance of plant.
• You have the proven ability to manage execution teams in coordination with technical requirements.
• You have effective leadership skills, including strong influencing ability and direct team management.
• You appreciate the value and diversity of people and the importance of their development and contributions.

• SME for install/maintenance services during R process.
• Attend pre‑proposal and negotiation meetings, develop scope and schedule, loadboard, JCE, tooling, quotes, parts, resources, deliverables.
• Job Site/Outage planning PRIOR to mobilize.
• Generate JIS, Labor and Specialty Service requests.
• Coordinate Design Eng. / Customer coord / Pre Site work (T‑12, T‑6) / Coordinate Lean Outage Risk and Protectivity (LORaP) workshops.
• Request internal and external POs.
• Outage Planning:
  Work order task plans, considering safety requirements, equipment availability, parts on hand, tooling, specialty services and resources.
• Ensure Development One EHS plan upon site mobilization prior to outage start.
• Development and management of costs with ongoing estimates to completion.
• Development, planning and management of the project schedules and payment milestones, while providing contingency planning where required, to ensure a timely execution.
• Risk and Opportunity management. Ensuring that all risks and issues are identified, and mitigation plans developed.
• Issue resolution during project execution – includes Safety/HOP/Quality/FME/Generate NCR’s/Parts/Product Service/Engineering/Controls/Commercial etc.
• To provide accurate management reports of all assigned projects.
• Ensure all project authorization is secured both technically and financially.
• To communicate effectively with all the stakeholders, both internal and external.
• Manage the Scope Change Authorization process for all assigned projects.
• Provide project leadership and guidance from project conception through to project delivery; to the customer and to conduct project feedback reviews at the appropriate time.
• It is expected that this position will act as the focus on project‑based activities and perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Ensure completion of project field services report, execution of ETC 127 process for engineering documentation of changes, Generate POR Document, Project close out, generate, BP, LL’s and OE summary.
