Highway Design Engineer Newfoundland and Labrador

Location: St. John's

Advance your engineering career with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador as a Highway Design Engineer. This role emphasizes highway infrastructure design, project management, and collaboration with key stakeholders.

In the Highway Design and Construction division, you'll be integral to the engineering design of highways and drainage structures. Reporting to the Chief Highway Design Engineer, you will conduct hydrology analyses, prepare regulatory applications, and oversee technical specifications. Your work will ensure adherence to safety standards while mentoring junior engineers across diverse projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed road design and hydrology analysis

• Prepare and evaluate project tenders and contract specifications

• Approve technical drawings and ensure design compliance

• Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

• Develop quality assurance programs for construction projects

Requirements:

• Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university

• Registered or eligible for P. Eng. with a Canadian association

• Extensive experience in roadway design and analysis

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and other relevant software

• Valid Class 05 license for Newfoundland and Labrador
