Kraken Robotics is currently recruiting for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our Mount Pearl, NL office.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design mechanical components and systems using3

    DCAD software, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, industry standards, and project requirements. This applies to the breadth of Kraken product sand systems. Such as:
    Launch and Recovery Systems, KATFISH, Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) products, Deep Sea Batteries,Charger sand Mine Hunting Systems.
  • Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) and simulation studies tooptimizedesigns forsafety,performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

    Such as stress analysis, vibration,shockand thermal.
  • Develop andmaintaindocumentation to support Kraken’s products and systems. Including various typesof mechanical drawings, manuals, procedures,training material, interface instructions, etc.
  • Develop andmaintainbuild instructions until official hand over to Production.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans and procedures to verify requirement compliance,validating performance, functionality, and reliability of Kraken products and systems.
  • Participate in projects through the entire design life cycle, including preliminary and detailed design,major design reviews,buildand test.
  • Manage product data and documentation using Product Data Management software ensuringaccurateversion control and revision history.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including

    Systems Engineering,Electrical Engineering,Manufacturing Engineering,ILS,Production, Supply Chain Management, Configuration& Documentation Management,Project Management and Business Development.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with Kraken requirements,applicable standards, regulations, and classification society requirements.
  • Support Production in developing standard

    Work Instruction sand Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Occasionally perform physical work including assembly, disassembly, maintenance, and testing of components.
  • Work with the Production department to provide technicalassistanceduring the manufacturing process.
  • Provide a client interface for Krakentechnical representation.
  • Work with clients to understand project requirements and provide operational support while in the field.
  • Mentor Junior Mechanical Engineers and Mechanical

    Technologists.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent engineering discipline with4+years' experience.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for 3D modelling and mechanical simulation.
  • Familiar with engineering review processes.
  • Knowledge ofdesign standards.
  • Effectively focuson, and prioritize,projectobjectiveswhile executing detailed design tasks.
  • Demonstrated technical skills along with a proven track recordfor success.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills (technical reporting).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as effectively within a team environment.
  • High degree of organizationandattention to detail.
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Experience with the following would be considered an asset:
  • Experience with

    Solid Works3

    DCAD andSolid

    Works simulation.
  • Experience with

    Solid

    WorksPDM.Approval workflows, version control, file structure, etc.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Experience with Sonar systems especially in an ocean environment.
