Location: St. John's

RFP technical writing is a high-demand, niche skill that bridges business, technology, and communication. This internship is an opportunity to learn and practice that craft in a real consulting environment.

You’ll work directly with senior delivery leads and technical SMEs to translate solutions into structured, evaluator-friendly proposal content. Over the course of your term, you’ll build a toolkit of repeatable proposal materials—such as compliance matrices, outlines, templates, and response libraries—and produce real, portfolio-quality deliverables.

Job Description

RFP Analysis & Compliance

  • Read and analyze RFP/RFQ documents to extract submission instructions, requirements, and evaluation criteria
  • Build and update compliance matrices, tracking requirement-by-requirement coverage
  • Identify risks, ambiguities, and clarification needs to escalate to the team

Technical Writing & Proposal Development

  • Draft and edit proposal content such as technical approach, project methodology, transition plans, security and compliance, and service models
  • Convert raw input from subject matter experts into clear, structured proposal content
  • Ensure consistency in formatting, tone, and terminology across all submission components
  • Assist with final assembly, including proofreading, formatting, document QA, and readiness checks

Content Library & Template Building

  • Help maintain and organize the proposal content library (project profiles, team resumes, service descriptions)
  • Create reusable response templates and boilerplate modules for future bids
  • Track updates and ensure alignment with current services and delivery standards

Optional

  • Assist with light diagrams (Lucidchart, Visio) and tables for solution overviews
  • Support quick-turnaround materials such as role profiles and one-page capability statements

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the internship, the selected candidate will have gained:

  • A practical understanding of the end-to-end proposal development lifecycle in a consulting environment
  • Experience interpreting public-sector and enterprise RFPs and translating technical input into structured, evaluator-friendly content
  • Proficiency in tools commonly used in proposal writing and collaboration, including Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and version-controlled document libraries
  • Exposure to internal workflows across delivery, business development, and subject matter expert (SME) teams
  • Strengthened skills in writing, editing, document formatting, compliance tracking, and professional communication
  • A certificate of completion and potential referral or extension based on performance
Required Experience

Required

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a post-secondary program in English, Communications, Business, Public Policy, Technical Writing, or a related discipline
  • Strong writing and editing skills with a focus on clarity, structure, and attention to detail
  • Excellent reading comprehension and the ability to extract key information from complex documents
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools, especially Word and Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a collaborative setting
  • Interest in IT services, cloud technologies, public-sector consulting, or technical documentation

Preferred (Assets)

  • Exposure to Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Notion, or other collaboration tools
  • Experience in research writing, academic publications, or documentation for technical processes
  • Familiarity with cloud or enterprise IT concepts (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, cybersecurity)
