Role Description

The Communications Strategist is the voice-shaper, message-builder, and connection-maker for our marketing clients. In this role, you’ll transform ideas into narratives that spark interest, inspire action, and cut through the noise. You’ll craft smart communication strategies, elevate brand messaging, and help clients show up with clarity and confidence, no matter the channel or audience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic client conversations via Zoom, diving into their current communication challenges, goals, and brand positioning to uncover opportunities for growth.
  • Develop tailored communication strategies that align with each client’s objectives and elevate their messaging across every channel.
  • Write, edit, and refine client-facing content, including press releases, articles, speeches, and social media copy, using AP style to ensure clarity, impact, and brand consistency.
  • Present communication insights and recommendations confidently during virtual meetings, helping clients understand how to strengthen their voice and expand their reach.
  • Research industry trends, audience behaviors, and competitor messaging to identify new angles, opportunities, and areas for client growth.
  • Oversee and advise on social media strategy, creating content calendars, analyzing engagement, and guiding clients on how to better connect with their audiences.
  • Collaborate closely with our team leads to build integrated campaigns that strengthen client visibility, support their initiatives, and drive community engagement.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in communications, journalism, or public relations with a strong portfolio of written work.
  • Exceptional writing skills with a keen eye for detail; proficiency in AP style is essential.
  • Strong research abilities to gather insights that inform strategic messaging.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills suitable for public speaking engagements and media interviews.
  • Experience managing social media platforms and creating engaging digital content.
  • Ability to proofread meticulously to ensure error-free materials before publication or distribution.
  • Knowledge of media relations tactics and experience cultivating relationships with journalists and media outlets.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
