Licensed practical nurse; L.P.N

Position: licensed practical nurse (L.P.N.)
Location: St. John's

Education  College, CEGEP or other non‑university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
Work Setting  Nursing home / home for the aged.
Responsibilities   Administer medications.
Apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing.
Conduct specimen collection.
Ensure infection control.
Monitor nutritional intake.
Observe and record medication’s therapeutic and side effects.
Record observations in patient files.
Take vital signs.
Provide safety and health education to patients and families.
Provide nursing services within defined scope of practice, based on assessment and care planning.
Monitor patients’ progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions, and consult with healthcare team.
Required Certifications & Licences   Eligible for licensure as a practical nurse in the province or territory of work.
Completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate.
Physical & Work Environment   Fast‑paced environment.
