Become a vital part of the Marine Biomass Innovation effort as a Community Researcher in Bay St. George. Utilize your Mi'kmaw community connections to support impactful marine research initiatives.
This position is funded by an external grant and emphasizes community involvement and research collaboration. As a Community Researcher at Grenfell Campus, you will have the chance to conduct interviews, help preserve cultural records, and promote entrepreneurship. Your unique knowledge and experiences will directly contribute to community well-being and project success.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work alongside Mi'kmaq community members and research teams
• Assist in the collection of marine samples and historical narratives
• Support project engagement for business development and funding
• Report research findings to community advisory and leadership teams
• Conduct primary and secondary research to document community strengths
Requirements:
• Meaningful connection to the Mi'kmaw community in the region
• No specific educational qualifications required
• Experience in field-based research or community engagement preferred
• Flexibility for variable working hours as needed
• Community-focused approach to research and development desired
