Position:  Full-Time Patient Watch Security Guard

Site:  Various Health Care Sites within St. John's

Averaging Agreement:  Overtime as per CBA

Hours:

Hours may vary site to site (e.g., Days, Nights, Rotating Shifts)

Payrate:  $19.00/hour

Key responsibilities:

Provide continuous observation of assigned patients to ensure safety and prevent self-harm or injury.

Monitor and report any unusual behavior, incidents, or safety concerns to clinical and security staff.

Maintain a respectful and non-invasive presence while observing patients.

Work closely with healthcare professionals, following facility protocols and directions.

De‑escalate situations calmly and appropriately using non‑violent crisis intervention techniques.

Document observations and incidents accurately and in a timely manner.

Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.

Prerequisites:

Clean Letter of Conduct/VSC

Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from CSA Approved provider.

English (oral and written) fluency is a must

Previous experience in security or a related field preferred.

Strong interpersonal and conflict‑resolution skills.

Ability to stay alert and attentive for extended periods.

Ability to work in high‑stress environments and remain composed under pressure.

Ability to stand or sit for long periods and respond quickly in emergency situations.

Legally authorized to work in Canada

Must be able to provide certifications in Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)

Applicants lacking these certification can opt into Paladin's MOAB certification program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Please be aware:
The MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre‑requisite, however Paladin will cover all of the costs of the certification with a 6 month commitment to the position/availability
