Become a Relief Counsellor at Choices for Youth, where you will empower homeless youth through crisis support and daily program management. This role is essential in providing a safe and nurturing environment.
In this casual position with Choices for Youth, you will play a critical role as a Relief Counsellor, engaging with young men and gender non-conforming youth in supportive housing and shelter settings. This role demands strong advocacy skills as you help clients navigate programs and services while also performing essential daily operations like cleaning and meal prep. You'll collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure that residents achieve their individual goals in a supportive atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct intake and assessments for young residents
• Provide crisis intervention and supportive counselling
• Liaise with community services for resident advocacy
• Oversee daily cleaning and meal preparation operations
• Assist youth in tracking their support plan progress
Requirements:
• DCS/DEC in social sciences preferred
• At least one year working with at-risk youth
• Experience in supportive counselling settings
• Strong conflict resolution skills
• Criminal record screening and vulnerable sector check
