Choices for Youth seeks a Relief Counsellor to support homeless youth through crisis intervention and daily program management. This role is crucial for fostering a safe and supportive environment.
As a Relief Counsellor at Choices for Youth, you will be part of a team dedicated to assisting homeless and at-risk youth aged 16-29 within both the Choices Shelter and The Lilly. The position involves conducting assessments, providing crisis counselling, and advocating for clients by connecting them with essential services. Daily responsibilities include maintaining shelter operations and supporting youths' individualized development plans crucial for their personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate intake and assessment procedures for new residents
• Deliver crisis counselling and supportive measures
• Build connections with community programs for youth
• Ensure operational cleanliness and meal preparation
• Aid in developing and monitoring resident support plans
Requirements:
• Post-secondary education in a relevant field preferred
• Experience supporting homeless youth, ideally 1 year
• Comprehensive understanding of homelessness issues
• Effective teamwork and administration abilities
• Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle
