Position Overview

The City of Mount Pearl is seeking an enthusiastic and highly organized individual to join our team as an Outdoor Recreation Coordinator for the Canoe/Kayak Program. This key leadership role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the program, managing staff schedules, and ensuring the successful delivery of both the drop-in canoe/kayak program and day camp water excursions. As the Coordinator, you will supervise and support a team of Outdoor Recreation Attendants, ensuring all participants have a safe and enjoyable experience while engaging in the water activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 30 by June 29, 2026.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Experience or certification in some or all the following activities:
    Canoeing/Kayaking.
  • Demonstrated communication and leadership skills and a strong knowledge of group dynamics and team building.
  • Leadership training would be an asset.
  • Valid First Aid Certification.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR level

    C).
  • National Lifeguard Certificate or other Aquatic certifications would be an asset.
  • Must be comfortable in an aquatic setting.
  • Code of Conduct with Vulnerable Sector Check – Valid within 6 months.

  • Additional Information

  • This is a physically demanding position. Applicants should be comfortable lifting equipment and working in an outdoor environment.
  • The program runs at Power’s Pond, and the duties require a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
