Position Overview
The City of Mount Pearl is seeking an enthusiastic and highly organized individual to join our team as an Outdoor Recreation Coordinator for the Canoe/Kayak Program. This key leadership role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the program, managing staff schedules, and ensuring the successful delivery of both the drop-in canoe/kayak program and day camp water excursions. As the Coordinator, you will supervise and support a team of Outdoor Recreation Attendants, ensuring all participants have a safe and enjoyable experience while engaging in the water activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 30 by June 29, 2026.Strong leadership skills.Experience or certification in some or all the following activities:
Canoeing/Kayaking.Demonstrated communication and leadership skills and a strong knowledge of group dynamics and team building.Leadership training would be an asset.Valid First Aid Certification.Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR level
C).National Lifeguard Certificate or other Aquatic certifications would be an asset.Must be comfortable in an aquatic setting.Code of Conduct with Vulnerable Sector Check – Valid within 6 months.* The above statement reflects the duties necessary to describe the principal functions of the job and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the duties of the job.Additional Information
This is a physically demanding position. Applicants should be comfortable lifting equipment and working in an outdoor environment.The program runs at Power’s Pond, and the duties require a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.Applicant must be available for training during the week of June 29, 2026.Final date to receive applications is March 27, 2026.
