Position SummaryThe Medical Receptionist is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic by performing routine administrative and clinical tasks. This includes greeting patients, coordinating patient flow, collecting payments, and maintaining accurate records. This role requires excellent communication skills, customer service expertise, and the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment. The Medical Receptionist plays a critical role in creating a positive patient experience while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality protocols.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and in a friendly manner upon arrival.
- Collect co‑pays, co‑insurance, deductibles, and establish payment plans as necessary.
- Assist patients in completing intake paperwork and ensure all required information is provided.
- Provide specimen collection cups and instructions to patients as needed.
- Interview patients to obtain medical information as needed.
- Schedule follow‑up appointments for patients and manage appointment books.
- Answer phone calls, make follow‑up calls to patients, and address patient inquiries.
- Safeguard patient information by maintaining confidentiality and completing medical records accurately.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and other healthcare policies.
- Perform general office duties as assigned to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Pain management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and safety protocols for infection control.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and surgical teams.
- Exemplary customer service skills with experience building strong relationships with patients and clients.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in patient documentation and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Ability to function in a high‑stress, physically demanding environment.
- Capable of manual dexterity, control precision, and exercising arm‑hand steadiness.
- Willingness to travel as needed and participate in ongoing training and professional development.
- Proactive problem‑solving abilities and capacity to anticipate the needs of the medical team.
