Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position working day shifts with adult and geriatric patients, requiring a GA or compact RN license.

• Work in a Medical Surgical unit caring for adult to geriatric patients
• Patient diagnoses include appendicitis, cholecystitis, small bowel obstruction, pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, sepsis, HTN, hypo/hyperglycemia, prostatectomy, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, ostomy creation or reversal, exploratory lap, and bowel resections
• Patient ratio is 1:6 on a 34-bed unit with an average daily census of 27
• Use equipment including NGT, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and wound vacs
• Unit uses Epic for charting, Pyxis for medication dispensing, and SBAR communication
• Day shifts are 3x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:00
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating within the facility is required
• No on-call requirements
• Expect to work major holidays based on schedule: one if one falls during contract, both if two, and two if three fall during contract
• Must wear navy blue scrubs
• Maximum of 7 days requested time off allowed with no RTO allowed in the first week of assignment
• Full compliance is required prior to start; late compliance may delay the start date by up to two weeks
• Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Returning travelers and former staff must have a one-year break from all Piedmont facilities to be eligible to return
• Travel pairs are not permitted to work the same shift on the same unit
• No blocked scheduling is allowed
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Minimum two years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience in Med/Surg unit with ability to manage a diverse adult and geriatric patient population
• Ability to use Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR preferred
