About the Role

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.

Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines is crucial.

The purpose of each inspection is twofold:

• Verify that the property is occupied.
• Report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.

Most inspections are exterior only. About 10 % require interior photos after a property has gone vacant.

Contracting is at the county level, meaning you will complete all inspections within your county (sometimes sharing a county with another inspector if volume permits).

• Complete most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
• Finish the inspection within 4 days of assignment.
• Report general property conditions and make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form within the company app.
• Be prepared to spend extended periods driving, making multiple stops during the day within the assigned territory.

• Personal computer with an internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay for your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although paid per inspection, you can expect to earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour
.

Depending on county size and urban/rural location, you may complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties offer higher rates; higher‑volume counties offer lower rates. No set volume is required—work is consistent month to month.

You can earn more as you establish yourself, increase your availability, or cover a larger territory.

No additional mileage reimbursement is provided beyond the flat fee per inspection.
