Youth Mentor

Location:

Stockport Pay Rate: £25 per hour (starting rate) Contract Type:
Temporary | Part-Time (20 hours per week)

March 2026 We are currently seeking a committed and compassionate Youth Mentor to support young people across Stockport.

This rewarding opportunity involves working with students experiencing Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to navigate personal, social and academic challenges while building confidence and resilience.

As a Youth Mentor, you will play a key role in empowering young people to develop essential life skills, improve wellbeing, and achieve positive outcomes both in and beyond education.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver tailored 1:1 mentoring sessions, providing consistent emotional support and guidance
  • Support young people in developing life skills, self-esteem, and positive social interactions
  • Assist students in setting realistic personal goals and creating structured action plans
  • Provide academic support where required, particularly in English and Maths
  • Act as a positive role model, building professional and trusting relationships
  • Monitor and report on student progress, liaising with parents/carers and relevant professionals
  • A minimum of one year's experience working with young people, ideally within a mentoring or support capacity
  • Experience supporting individuals with SEMH or additional needs
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Previous experience supporting young people facing academic or personal challenges
  • A qualification in Youth Work, Social Care, or a related field
