Are you a passionate QTS-qualified teacher looking to make a meaningful difference to children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEMH Teacher to join a specialist SEMH school in Stockport
, supporting pupils who may experience behavioural, emotional and social challenges.
This is an excellent opportunity for a QTS-qualified teacher who is passionate about creating a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment where pupils can overcome barriers to education and achieve their potential.
The RoleAs an SEMH Teacher
, you will:
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with SEMH needs.
Support pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties
, as well as additional SEND needs.Build strong, positive relationships with pupils through a calm and consistent approach.
Use positive behaviour support, de‑escalation and restorative approaches
.Promote emotional regulation, resilience, confidence and independence.
Adapt teaching and learning to meet individual pupil needs and EHCP outcomes.
Set clear boundaries while maintaining a nurturing and supportive classroom environment
.Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
Work closely with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff and other professionals.
Support pupils during challenging periods, transitions and wider school activities.
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Has experience working with, or a strong interest in supporting,
SEMH pupils
.Has a good understanding of positive behaviour management and emotional regulation
.Is calm, patient and resilient when managing challenging behaviour.
Can build strong and trusting relationships with children and young people.
Has excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
Is adaptable and confident responding to individual pupil needs.
Has a genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
Previous SEMH or specialist school experience is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from QTS-qualified teachers with experience in mainstream, SEND, SEMH or other specialist educational settings.
