Overview
Build something from the ground up. Own it. Scale it. We’re hiring hands‑on Manufacturing Engineers in the Stockport area to join a fast‑growing, global defence organisation supplying critical equipment to the British military. This is a rare opportunity to help establish a brand‑new production capability in the UK, working closely with an experienced European parent site to transfer knowledge, processes, and best practice.
You’ll develop the Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) area for a flagship vehicle programme and become a technical authority on the shopfloor as production ramps up. If you enjoy building robust manufacturing systems, driving lean improvements, and seeing your work go live at scale this role offers genuine influence and visibility.

- Act as the Manufacturing Engineering lead on the shopfloor
- Develop and own AIT processes for a critical vehicle build programme
- Lead lean manufacturing initiatives, line balancing, and problem solving
- Drive continuous improvement across cost, quality, safety, and waste
- Provide Design for Manufacture (DFM) input and manage engineering changes
- Create and maintain standard work, work instructions, and balance charts
- Support cross‑functional delivery across engineering, quality, and operations
- Ensure full compliance with EHS and quality standards
- Higher‑level qualification in Manufacturing, Engineering, or similar
- Proven experience in lean, complex assembly or engineering environments
- Background in a Manufacturing Engineer or closely related role
- Strong understanding of engineering change control
- Experience with SAP planning (training available)
- Ability to structure and manage BOMs from drawing through to manufacture
- Comfortable operating in complex, multi‑disciplinary organisations
