Aboutthe Role
As Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer, the successful candidate will manage and deliver geo-environmental projects involving desk studies, site investigation, environmental sampling, risk assessment, reporting and remediation support. The role will include both technical delivery and project coordination, with regular liaison between clients, subcontractors, laboratories, regulators and internal project teams. Applicants should demonstrate strong UK project experience, excellent report-writing ability and the confidence to manage multiple projects to programme, budget and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Project Delivery
- Manage and deliver geo-environmental and contaminated land projects
- Support projects from initial enquiry through to completion
- Prepare project scopes, programmes and technical delivery plans
- Coordinate site works, subcontractors, laboratories and internal resources
- Monitor project progress, deadlines, budgets and deliverables
- Maintain clear communication with clients and project teams
- Ensure work is delivered safely, accurately and commercially
- Support the successful delivery of projects across a varied UK portfolio
- Plan and supervise Phase 2 ground investigations
- Oversee intrusive investigation works including trial pits, window sampling and boreholes
- Undertake soil, groundwater, surface water and ground-gas sampling
- Prepare accurate site records, logs and monitoring data
- Coordinate laboratory testing schedules
- Review site investigation outputs and identify technical concerns
- Liaise with drilling teams, contractors, laboratories and project managers
- Ensure fieldwork is completed in accordance with project specifications and health and safety requirements
- Prepare Phase 1 desk studies and preliminary risk assessments
- Prepare Phase 2 ground investigation and geo-environmental assessment reports
- Develop conceptual site models
- Interpret soil, groundwater, gas and environmental laboratory data
- Undertake contaminated land risk assessments
- Support human health, controlled waters and ground-gas risk assessment work
- Prepare clear technical conclusions and practical recommendations
- Ensure reports are accurate, commercially focused and issued to agreed deadlines
- Support the preparation of remediation strategies
- Assist with verification and validation reporting
- Provide technical input during remediation and construction-stage works
- Liaise with contractors, clients and regulators where required
- Support planning-condition discharge and environmental compliance requirements
- Help clients manage environmental risks in a practical and cost-effective way
- Act as a key point of contact for clients on assigned projects
- Attend project meetings, site meetings and technical discussions
- Liaise with local authorities, regulators, contractors and consultants
- Communicate technical findings clearly and professionally
- Support strong client relationships through reliable project delivery
- Identify opportunities to provide additional technical support where appropriate
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and consultants
- Review site records, data and draft reporting where required
- Support the development of junior team members
- Share technical knowledge across the geo-environmental team
- Contribute to a collaborative and professional working culture
- Minimum 5 years' UK geo-environmental or environmental engineering experience
- Proven UK project experience is required
