Children's Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Fantastic opportunity to work as part of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust's Children's Speech and Language Therapy team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our Child Development Unit and Early Years Clinic teams to cover Maternity Leave. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll be working with children who have a range of speech, language, and communication needs, implementing the Balanced System Model to ensure comprehensive, child-centred care.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will hold a Degree/Masters level qualification or equivalent and be a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. They will also be registered as a Speech and Language Therapist with the HCPC.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with children as a Speech and Language Therapist. This experience could have been gained in a range of settings such as Child Development Units, community clinics, mainstream or special schools. They will have a good grasp of the SEND Code of Practice, universal, targeted and specialist approaches and experience of working with partners to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously.

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will work within the Child Development Unit and Early Years SALT teams to provide a high quality service to preschool children with a range of SLCN needs across Stockport.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff andնաս volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trust’s policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.

  • Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across Stockport and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. Where possible, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act.
