About this job

Develop knowledge and skill in smoking cessation management to support patients with the CURE project.

Active smokers will be systematically identified during hospital admission, immediately provided with nicotine replacement therapy for the duration of the admission.

The post consists of dedicated time to clinical practice, seeing patients on the ward, running telephone clinics, some teaching / training, as well as providing advice to other multidisciplinary team colleagues across the trust.

Provide specialist knowledge and care to patients, relatives, carers and other multidisciplinary team members.

Work alongside the established Respiratory Nurses, developing skills and knowledge in all areas of respiratory care and management.

Assist with local and national mandatory audit collection work which may include reviewing notes retrospectively to establish information required to complete.

Develop knowledge and skill regarding respiratory conditions, investigations and treatment.

Understand how the Respiratory Nursing team fits into the wider Respiratory Team.

Promote self-management of long term conditions.

To promote excellence using evidence based practice in nursing through the integration of specialist clinical practice and education.

Provide education and training to patients, relatives, carers and other healthcare professionals.

To be a resource of knowledge, skill and experience across the Trust and partnership organisations.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary. In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
