School Caretaker/Site Supervisor

Are you an experienced Caretaker/Site Supervisor looking for a new role?

Our client, a welcoming and well-established school in the Stockport area, is seeking a proactive and organised caretaker to support with the day-to-day duties of the school premises. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive facilities team and play a vital role in creating a safe, secure and well-maintained environment where children can thrive.

The Role

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for the operational duties of the school's buildings, grounds and facilities. You'll work with the premises and cleaning teams, and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.

This is a varied, hands-on role that combines practical maintenance, compliance, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the school site.
  • Support the premises and cleaning teams.
  • Ensure the school is clean, safe, secure and well-presented at all times.
  • Carry out routine inspections and organise planned preventative maintenance.
  • Undertake minor repairs including basic plumbing, decorating, lighting and general maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to maintenance, compliance and statutory inspections.
About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience in site supervision, ideally within a school or similar environment.
  • Experience of routine building maintenance and repairs.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
  • A flexible, practical and proactive approach to problem solving.
