My client is a regional civil engineering sub-contractor experiencing a significant period of growth. Due to winning positions on a number of frameworks they are looking to strengthen their teams with a Contract Manager. The contract manager will be highly experienced in civils, groundworks, drainage, and kerbing, with experience in managing multiple projects and running site programmes.

Responsibilities
  • As Contracts Manager you will understand site planning and ensure projects are running to time and budgets as set and requested from the client.
  • Be confident in client-facing interactions and represent the business in progress and site meetings.
  • Programme planning: plan projects and ensure detailed programming for site delivery.
  • Ensure the programme is updated throughout the project cycle.
  • Procurement and reconciliation of materials in accordance with company procedures to achieve best value and prevent delays.
  • Ensure site team compliance with company commercial policies and procedures.
  • Participate in tender handover meetings and deliver pre-start meetings to the site team.
  • Maintain and monitor a commercial plan and end-of-life forecast monthly for successful delivery.
  • Produce and analyse progress reports, updated costs and forecasts.
  • Ensure correct commercial engagement of subcontractors.
  • Implement risk management, review risk register and controls.
  • Review CVRs weekly/monthly with project teams and take necessary actions.
  • Complete and distribute Contract Start/Completion forms for each project.
  • Regularly review progress, budget resources and forward planning with 4 to 6 week lookahead programmes.
  • Chair and attend internal and external meetings; record discussions and actions.
  • Ensure timely management of both temporary and permanent design to meet project requirements.
  • Manage post-contract commercial teams.
  • Health, Safety and Environment: model leadership in HSQ&E, ensure compliance with procedures and legal obligations, allocate responsibilities, provide training, manage sites and subcontractors, and liaise with third parties for regulatory standards.
Quality
  • Ensure ITPs are produced and explained to the team.
  • Ensure the QA File is produced and maintained.
  • Establish and promote best practice.
Key measures & targets
  • Adherence to deadlines and business objectives.
  • Final accounts completed on time per construction completion.
  • Monthly and weekly reporting deadlines met.
  • KPI targets met.
  • Deliver projects without safety incidents, on time and within budget.
Essential
  • Extensive experience managing projects within a civils and groundworks environment.
  • Knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, temporary works management, programming, risk management and cost control including forecasting, actual cost and value reporting.
  • Experience of MS Project.
  • Knowledge of JCT/NEC contracts including Early Warning and Compensation Event mechanisms.
  • CSCS card.
  • Experience of pre-qualification and tendering process.
  • Excellent people management, communication, problem solving and analytical thinking skills.
