CNC Setter / Operator
Location: Stockport (Brand-New Advanced Manufacturing Site)
Salary: £38,000 (Days) + Shift Premiums (15% Double Days / 30% Nights)
Hours: 40 hours per week (24 / 5 operation)

We are partnering with a global engineering business that has recently invested in a brand-new UK super site in Stockport. They specialise in high-volume precision components used in critical electrical applications worldwide.
Due to continued growth and investment in new machinery, they are seeking an experienced CNC Setter / Operator to join their skilled machining team.
The Role- Setting and operating a range of CNC machinery including Buffoli rotary transfer, Fanuc twin spindle, Citizen sliding head, Doosan, Mori-Say and other multi-axis equipment
- Programming CNC machines to meet production output targets (90–95% OEE)
- Producing components to exact engineering standards with 100% Right First Time quality
- Working confidently from technical drawings and specifications
- Maintaining high levels of safety, 5S and TPM across the shift
- Supporting continuous improvement and reducing downtime through effective problem-solving
- Working across a mix of production volumes – from one-off prototypes to batches of thousands
- 5–10 years' experience as a CNC Setter in turning / milling with programming experience
- Strong background working with multi-axis and high-volume machining environments
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and work with precision
- Engineering qualification (HNC or equivalent) preferred
- Calm under pressure with strong manual dexterity
- Ability to lift up to 7.5kg
- A proactive, positive, “right-first-time” mindset
This role operates on a newly introduced 24 / 5 shift pattern, designed specifically around the business’s brand-new technology and therefore expected to remain stable long-term.
The shift patterns include:- 5-day Double Day Shift (Mon–Fri):
Early and late rotations with a 15% shift premium - Fixed 4-Night Shift: Four consecutive nights per week with a 30% shift premium
Breaks may be staggered, and machines may run unmanned where required.
Overtime is available in line with customer demand.
