Manual Turner

We require a manual lathe machinist for our busy machine shop in Stockport due to a retirement within our organisation. A competent skilled machinist / manual lathe operator who has experience working manual lathes & ideally milling machines. We are a company very reactive to customer requirements and machine 1 off items to small batches. The main roles and responsibilities include:
The ability to read engineering drawings. Ability to work to a high standard working to tight tolerances with excellent attention to detail. Competent on all aspects of setting tools, including having an understanding of cutting speeds and feeds. Strong experience using measurement/inspection equipment including verniers, bore gauges, micrometers etc. Highly motivated and have the ability to work well in a team.

Maintains work areas in a safe, clean and orderly manner including conformance with ISO
9001 standards. Welding skills would also be an advantage but not essential. Training will be provided where required.

Hours:

39hrs Mon-Thurs 07:45-16:45 & Friday 07:45-12:45
