Profile Burner​/Lumsden Grinder Operator

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Profile Burner / Lumsden Grinder Operator to join our busy fabrication workshop. The successful candidate will be responsible for cutting and grinding steel plate components to precise engineering specifications.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong fabrication experience and a solid understanding of heavy steel processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate oxy-fuel and/or plasma profile burning machines (CNC or manual)

• Cut steel plate to engineering drawings and required tolerances

• Operate Lumsden (rotary surface) grinding machines

• Grind components to specified thickness and flatness

• Carry out dimensional checks using measuring equipment

• Maintain machinery and change consumables as required

• Follow all health & safety procedures

Requirements

• Proven experience in profile burning and Lumsden grinding

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

• Experience working with thick carbon steel plate

• Good understanding of tolerances and surface finishes

• Strong attention to detail

• Overhead crane experience (preferred but not essential)
