RoleCook – Bank Agreement
Pay£13.24 p/h
The Role of Cook- Relevant Certificate in Food Hygiene, or willingness to obtain one within the first three months. Experience in cooking varied, healthy and safe meals for large groups (twelve or more, sometimes up to 20) on a regular basis.
- Effective communication, interaction with people and teamwork; good reading and writing skills.
- Methodical, highly organised; maintains a clean, tidy kitchen and equipment with effective stock rotation.
- Demonstrates empathy and understanding of the nutritional needs of older people.
- Create healthy balanced menus with choices reflecting residents’ needs and preferences.
- Plan, prepare and cook residents’ meals from the agreed menu, considering personal preferences or recognised dietary requirements (e.g. diabetes).
- Ensure a safe and sufficient supply of catering products by developing a timely ordering system; record all orders and deliveries for audit.
- Maintain effective stock rotation and control; manage catering costs within the agreed budget.
- Ensure safe use of catering equipment; report defects; adhere to kitchen cleaning procedures and Environmental Health standards; keep kitchen and store areas clean and hygienic.
- Use all equipment and products in line with COSHH; keep COSHH assessments under review; supervise completion of all food safety records.
- Competitive pay benchmarked regularly against similar employed staff in similar roles.
- Accrue leave at a rate equivalent to 31 days paid leave in a full calendar year, inclusive of bank/public holidays (pro rata).
- Mandatory training during induction; keep training up to date for future assignments.
