Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN learning support assistant to join one of our supportive specialist schools in Stockton. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people with additional needs reach their full potential.

About the Role

As an SEN learning support assistant, you will support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis, helping them regulate emotions, engage with learning and develop essential social and communication skills.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting pupils with additional learning needs such as ASD, SEMH, ADHD and communication differences
Providing 1:1 support and facilitating small-group intervention sessions
Assisting the class teacher with adapted learning tasks and personalised support strategies
Encouraging independence, resilience and positive behaviour
Creating a calm, structured and nurturing environment
Helping pupils develop social interaction, communication and emotional regulation skills
Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and wider school staff to deliver personalised learning plans

The Ideal Candidate

Experience supporting children or young people with SEN or behavioural needs
A patient, calm and resilient approach to behaviour and communication
Strong teamwork skills and the ability to follow guidance from teachers and external professionals
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing needs
Confidence supporting learning inside and outside the classroom
An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
