Are you ready to be a champion for student success? Join us as a Learning Manager, where you will play a critical role in nurturing student potential by focusing on welfare, strategic intervention, and data-driven monitoring. This position is perfect for someone passionate about removing academic and behavioral barriers to learning, ensuring all students thrive in a supportive educational setting, and effectively managing complex student cases in collaboration with external agencies.

Welcome

from the Principal:

We are a free school in the centre of Middlesbrough, and we do things differently! Do you?

As Principal, I am proud to introduce you to Outwood Academy Riverside, an innovative free school within a nationally renowned Trust that nurtures talent and provides high-quality professional development.

Opened in 2020, Riverside is a special place to work with genuine care for every family member. Our community is built on core values, including kindness, compassion, respect, and integrity. We maintain academic rigour and high expectations, resulting in very good behaviour and attendance that is above the national average. Students face no 'glass ceiling' and benefit from exceptional personal development opportunities (including Cadets, MiSST, and LAMDA).

This is a unique opportunity to join an inspirational team making history. We are currently on Russell Street (with a satellite site in Eston) and are planning a move to a new, state-of-the-art facility by 2026.

If you genuinely love working with children and will go above and beyond for our young people, we would love to hear from you. Would you like to be part of this journey?

About the Role:

As a Learning Manager you must have the ability to work with students and have a real interest in the issues faced by the students. You will monitor and support all students in the year group, both academically and behaviourally. You will work closely with the Inclusion Co-ordinator and the Leadership Team on improving both student behaviour, attendances and outcomes. Day to Day you will work with students to help them be the best they can be.

The successful candidate must be extremely well organised, have the ability to prioritise work and ensure that strict deadlines are met. The ability to work on your own initiative and be able to lead by example are essential. You will be required to deal with students, parents and outside agencies in a professional and confidential manner.

When completing your application, please give due regard to the attached Job Description and Person Specification. Please note that all of the essential criteria listed on the Person Specification will be used to shortlist candidates for interview. If you do not demonstrate and/or evidence that you meet all of the essential criteria elements, you will not be selected for an interview.

The successful applicant must have experience of working in a school environment and demonstrable knowledge of issues affecting students and young people, including how to offer supportive assistance.

Essential skills include the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences, verbally and in writing, and proficiency in using standard ICT packages, including Microsoft Office. Crucially, candidates must be able to work well under pressure, manage competing deadlines, relate sympathetically to students, and recognise potential child safeguarding issues. Experience of working with other agencies that support vulnerable students is desirable.
