About the roleThe Multi-Skilled Engineer serves as the custodian of equipment and systems across the plant. This role identifies and resolves equipment-related issues, helping to reduce downtime and waste. Planned maintenance activities are carried out to maximise equipment performance and reliability, while opportunities for improvement are identified and implemented to enhance availability, quality, efficiency, and operational effectiveness. Maintaining and strengthening safety systems remains a key focus of the role at all times.
Working Pattern: This is a full-time, on-site position operating on a continental shift pattern of 3 days on, 3 days off.
Key responsibilities- Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with health, safety, food safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Maintain knowledge of Kerry policies and relevant legislative requirements.
Participate in risk assessments, HACCP studies, and continuous improvement activities. - Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment, utilities, and site services, including pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC, SCADA, refrigeration, compressed air, and steam systems.
Identify faults, take appropriate action to restore equipment performance, and escalated issues where required. - Contribute to initiatives that reduce downtime, waste, and operating costs while improving reliability, efficiency, and quality.
- Work with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams on equipment installations, upgrades, modifications, and engineering projects.
Provide technical expertise and practical guidance to engineers and apprentices. - Maintain accurate maintenance records, documentation, drawings, programs, databases, and system updates within SAP PM/CMMS.
- Complete planned maintenance activities and scheduled work in line with agreed priorities.
Work with planning and scheduling teams to ensure efficient execution of maintenance activities. - Participate in engineering, hygienic design, safety, environmental, and quality improvement reviews.
- Experience in electrical, instrumentation and mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of PLCs, automated systems, drives, low-voltage equipment, and instrumentation.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults safely and effectively.
- Experience carrying out planned and preventative maintenance activities.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of utilities systems such as steam, refrigeration, compressed air, air handling, or wastewater treatment is advantageous.
