Electronic System Engineering Placement

We are looking for an enthusiastic Electronic System Engineering Student to join our team specialising in Controls & Electronics for our Engine Business Segment in Darlington, United Kingdom.

During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organisation operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry.

The requirements are to be onsite for 3 days per week so you will need to be able to travel or relocate to the location on your own behalf

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence in Summer 2027.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Supporting Engineering
  :
  Assisting developing requirements of L Platform Global VII engine. Support with building test benches and wiring schematics.
• Compliance Knowledge
  :
  Developing and maintaining laboratory environment and automation testing using CAN tools and other tools for data acquisition.
• Employee Relations
  :
  Assisting other team members within the controls and electronics organization.
• Policy Adherence
  :
  Ensuring all lab safety and policies at met and followed.
• Team Support
  :
  Supporting team members in need of controls setup and system integration.
• Report Management
  :
  Understanding and assisting in controls automation testing and generation of test reports that meets with today’s V-model structure.
• Record Keeping
  :
  Coordinating and maintaining laboratory test setups, materials, and component inventories.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• We are looking for a wide range of candidates studying towards an Automation/ Energy/ Electrical/ Automotive Engineering degree course.
• Strong logical thinking, effective time management, and collaborative teamwork skills.
• Ability to show initiative with a creative mindset.
• Evidence of extra-curricular or voluntary experience in line with Cummins company values may be beneficial.
