We have an excellent opportunity for a Safety Manager! The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment at the Knife River Energy Services Terminals and at work sites in the western states. This role involves implementing safety and environmental protocols, conducting regular inspections, and providing training to employees to minimize risks and ensure compliance with all regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections of the terminal sites to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Training: Develop and deliver safety and environment training programs for new and existing employees, including hazard recognition, emergency procedures, and safe work practices.
- Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations, including OSHA, DNR, and company policies.
- Safety Programs: Develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental programs and policies to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
- Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate records of safety and environmental inspections, incidents, and training activities. Report findings to management and regulatory agencies as required.
- Emergency Response: Coordinate emergency response activities and conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness for potential emergencies.
- PPE Management: Ensure the availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all employees.
- Communication: Serve as a point of contact for safety and environmental related matters and communicate information effectively to all levels of the organization.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety role, preferably in the asphalt or construction industry.
- Certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification preferred.
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and best practices in the industry.
- Skills: Excellent communication, training, and organizational skills. Ability to conduct thorough investigations and develop effective safety programs.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in an asphalt terminal environment, including exposure to outdoor weather conditions and physical demands such as walking, climbing, and lifting.
