Accounts Assistant

Eastgate is seeking an Accounts Assistant to support our Finance team as we undergo major systems and process improvements. The role will include day-to-day accounting activities, including transactional finance tasks, bank reconciliations, VAT/CIS support, and month-end preparation. The role offers broad exposure, from assisting with accounts payable and receivable to contributing to the rollout of a new ERP system through data migration and testing.

You’ll work closely with project and operational teams, helping ensure smooth financial operations while developing your skills and taking on more responsibility as you grow.

• Support the finance team with day-to-day accounting activities across a fast-growing EC&I business undergoing major systems and process improvements.
• Assist with transactional finance tasks including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense processing and general ledger entries.
• Perform regular bank reconciliations and help maintain accurate cash, ledger and balance‑sheet records.
• Contribute to VAT and/or CIS processes, including preparing returns and keeping supporting documentation organised and compliant.
• Provide support in the preparation of month‑end and management accounts, with opportunities to take ownership of tasks as skills develop.
• Play an active role in the new ERP system implementation, helping with data migration, testing, and embedding improved processes across the business.
• Respond to finance queries from project teams and operational colleagues, ensuring smooth financial operations across a project‑centred environment.
• Take on additional responsibilities as confidence grows—the role offers broad exposure and the chance to shape your own development.

• AAT qualified or currently studying towards AAT (or equivalent professional pathway).
• Experience working in construction, engineering or a project‑centred business is highly desirable.
• Strong numerical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Confident communicator who can collaborate effectively with colleagues across multiple teams and locations.
• Proactive, ambitious and eager to learn—well suited to someone who wants broad exposure and the opportunity to grow with the business.
• Comfortable working within a dynamic environment experiencing positive change, including the rollout of a new ERP system.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and general accounting software; prior ERP experience is useful but not essential.
• Well‑organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines.
