Ballpark Head Groundskeeper

LEGENDS GLOBAL, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an immediate opening for a Head Groundskeeper in Stockton, CA. The role is responsible for all aspects of ballpark field maintenance and facility needs for sports use. Ensures scheduling and facilitation of field preparation, training of grounds crew, equipment maintenance, irrigation management, and procurement within budget. Oversees general sports field related maintenance and delivery of event‑related services.

Perform the following duties personally or through a subordinate:

• Assist in the supervision of employees while performing landscape and maintenance duties at Stockton Ballpark.
• Help hire, supervise, train, and schedule part‑time grounds staff.
• Conduct in‑house training programs with part‑time staff to ensure proper usage and operation of all maintenance equipment and complete daily safety checks.
• Schedule, coordinate and supervise / monitor general maintenance of facility.
• Develop an emergency action plan for system malfunctions or breakdowns; develop corrective actions and solutions.
• Complete weekly irrigation system field assessments. Troubleshoot problem areas, and make repairs when malfunctions occur.
• Provide technical support, oversee and/or assist with repairs and maintenance of all facility systems and equipment.
• Ensure proper utilization of the Work Order and LEGENDS GLOBAL Maintenance Manager systems.
• Plan and execute facility upgrades, renovations, and repairs.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized services.
• Ensure compliance with MLB, MiLB, local, state, and federal ballpark codes.
• Maintain safety standards and conduct risk assessments.
• Implement energy and water savings measures and sustainability initiatives.
• Assist in preparing budgets for maintenance and capital projects.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and costs.
• Ensure adherence to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes.
• Analyze needs and plan preventive maintenance programs and upgrades for systems.
• All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Directly supervises employees in the Engineering & Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with LEGENDS GLOBAL's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

• High school diploma/GED.
• Sport Turf Management Degree required.
• Sport Management Degree is a plus.
• OSHA safety certification preferred.

• At least three (3) years baseball‑specific grounds maintenance experience.
• Excellent problem‑solving and project management skills.
• Working knowledge of operating and maintaining irrigation systems.
• Ability to calibrate and apply liquid or granular fertilizer, herbicides, and pesticides using the most recent horticultural practices.
• Knowledge of maintaining Bermuda grass with cool season turf transition.
• Knowledge of in‑field skin maintenance, mound builds, mound/plate patch, and all other dirt work required to maintain a safe and professional playing surface.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of staff, including management.
• Highly motivated and able to work independently.
• Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic.
• Ability to work irregular/extended hours, including nights and weekends, is required.
• Must be licensed to operate a motor vehicle.
